Armed Attack on Ahmadi Worship Place in Rabwah: One Attacker Killed, Four Injured

RABWAH, Chiniot, Punjab (Action for Humanity) Pakistan, A tragic incident unfolded on Friday when armed assailants launched an attack on Bait-ul-Mahdi, an Ahmadi place of worship in Rabwah (officially known as Chenab Nagar). The attack occurred during Friday prayers when a large number of worshippers were present inside. According to a spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Community, the attackers attempted to storm the worship hall, but community security volunteers on duty swiftly responded, preventing a greater tragedy. In the ensuing exchange of fire, four security volunteers sustained injuries, while one of the attackers was killed on the spot. Police officials said the assailant arrived in a vehicle accompanied by three accomplices. As soon as they stopped near the building, the main attacker stepped out and opened fire on the guards stationed outside. CCTV footage shows the attacker, described as heavily built and calm under pressure, firing two pistols alternately switching weapons when one ran out of rounds. Moments later, he was fatally shot by a countering bullet. Authorities identified the deceased assailant as Sohaib bin Zigham, son of Hafeez-ur-Rehman Zigham, with a temporary address in Lahore and a permanent residence in Rajanpur. His three accomplices managed to flee the scene in their vehicle and remain at large. District Police Officer (DPO) Chiniot Abdullah Ahmad confirmed that “the attack on the Ahmadi worship place was foiled, and one of the attackers has been killed.” Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated a large-scale search operation. Checkpoints have been established at all entry and exit points of the city. This attack once again underscores the deep wounds inflicted on Pakistani society by religious intolerance, hatred, and extremism. Such violence is not merely an assault on a community — it is an assault on humanity itself. Tragically, some minds continue to be nurtured with the belief that killing others in the name of religion ensures a path to paradise. This mindset has torn apart the moral fabric of society, turning human beings against one another and stripping hearts of compassion and eyes of tears. Until society collectively confronts and rejects this dangerous ideology, such tragedies will continue to recur and we will be left once more to mourn not just the victims of an attack, but the slow death of our shared humanity.
